You’re leading creative teams, working with talented people and yet something feels off.

Suddenly you became “the numbers person”. The one making tough calls no one else wants to own.

You give your best every day, but the harder you try to please and be professional, the less you allow your real self to surface.

For almost a decade I led design teams on AAA games.

My career grew fast - promotions, responsibility, recognition.

But somewhere along the way, I lost sight of what got me into this industry in the first place:

The contact to my teams. The careless joy of interacting with creative, passionate people.

Without noticing, I began to isolate myself.

It took time to realize, and accept, that my environment was a reflection of how I showed up (or didn’t).

So I took responsibility for the atmosphere I want to create.

That’s where I understood what power lies in the environment we shape for ourselves.
